Congratulations goes out to Adam Nelson, who clinched the gold medal in the shot put last week at the World Championships of Track and Field in Helsinki, Finland. Adam won the gold with a throw of 71 feet, 5 inches, his best throw in 3 years.
Despite the chilly, rainy conditions, Adam was determined to walk away with gold. Adam, who displayed his usual pre-throw “routine” of angrily throwing his warm-up shirt into the crowd and screaming before releasing the shot, achieved his winning throw on the first attempt.

Adam, who has trained at the Poliquin Performance Center for many years, typically wins silver. Adam is a two-time Olympic (’00 & ’04) Silver medalist and a two-time World Silver medalist in the shot put.
Adam’s determination for success is evident as he has plans to throw in the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.
